October 2011 PLANET DINOSAUR The BBC's major natural history series, Planet Dinosaur, concludes tonight on BBC One HD (Wednesday 20th Oct, 8.30pm).  The series features a score by Ilan Eshkeri. “I wanted to take inspiration from the feeling of awe and wonderment I always had as a child”, he says about composing the score for Planet Dinosaur. October 2011 CORIOLANUS GALA PREMIERE This Sunday Ilan will be at the gala premiere of Coriolanus. The event is part of the BFI London Film Festival. Ilan composed a modern, atonal score to Ralph Fiennes's directorial debut. The film sets Shakespeare's political tragedy of pride, manipulation and betrayal in the modern day, calling for a unique style of composition to compliment the powerful dialogue from the original script.
May 2011 THE YOUNG VICTORIA IN CONCERT Tonight Ilan attends a concert in Lucern, Switzerland where the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra will be performing music from his score to The Young Victoria. Ilan's music will be performed together with other great works, including Malcolm Arnold's score to The Bridge on the River Kwai, in a tribute to great British film music composers.
March 2011 JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN Ilan is currently working on the score to Rowan Atkinson's latest comedy venture: more mayhem from Britain's worst international spy in Johnny English REBORN. February 2011 BERLINALE FILM FESTIVAL - CORIOLANUS PREMIERE This weekend Ilan flies to Berlin for the annual Berlinale Film Festival to attend the premiere of Ralph Fiennes' Coriolanus, which is in competition for the festival's highest honour - the Golden Bear Award. Ilan composed and recorded the score to Fiennes' directorial debut at the end of 2010 at British Grove Studios in London with members of the London Metropolitan Orchestra.
January 2011 THE RETREAT RECORDING SESSION This Thursday Ilan records the score to the psychogical thriller The Retreat, starring Jamie Bell, Thandie Newton and Cillian Murphy. Ilan has written for string orchestra with extended techniques, and electronic textures and percussion to create an unnerving atmosphere. There is also a heavily featured solo violin, which will be performed by special guest violinist Jack Liebeck - winner of last year's Classical Brit Award for Young British Performer. The recording will take at British Grove Studios with members of the London Metropolitan Orchestra.
January 2011 JOHNNY ENGLISH REBORN  Ilan is soon to start work on an action comedy score for Rowan Atkinson's latest adventure as the haphazard secret agent.   Starring Dominic West, Rosamund Pike and Gillian Anderson alongside Atkinson. Directed by Oliver Parker.
November 2010 RECORDING FOR 'MORECAMBE & WISE' Today Ilan records a multi-leveled score for BBC's new TV film 'Eric & Ernie', which documents the younger years of Britain's beloved 'Morecambe & Wise'.   Ilan is recording at Mark Knopfler's award-winning British Grove Studios with a Jazz Pit Band and a small String Orchestra, and has composed a score which highlights both the witty and the more sentimental moments in the two comedians' lives, alongside their struggle to become the unforgettable duo they were to become.   The film to be released at Christmas by the BBC, starring Bryan Dick & Daniel Rigby
November 2010 NINJA TUNE 20th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT @ THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL Ilan will be performing this Sunday 14 November at The Royal Albert Hall on some of his own arrangements for Ninja Tune's signed artists Amon Tobin and The Cinematica Orchestra. The monumental concert is to commemorate Ninja Tune's 20th Anniversary, with some of the label's biggest signed artists performing live. Ilan has composed orchestral arrangements for Amon Tobin as well as yet another collaboration with The Cinematic Orchestra on some of their best loved pieces.
November 2010 LANG LANG CHRISTMAS SPECIAL World renowned pianist Lang Lang recently performed on a score composed by Ilan, accompanied by the London Metropolitan Orchestra. The single is now available to download from iTunes and Amazon, and the Making Of video can be viewed on YouTube. Ilan recorded with Lang Lang in Paris and the LMO at Abbey Road Studios, London. The piece features on Sony's short film A Sony Christmas Carol, starring Sir Derek Jacobi as 'Scrooge'.
October 2010SONY CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN FEATURING WORLD-RENOWNED PIANIST LANG LANG  This week sees Ilan recording music for Sony's campaign - A Sony Christmas Carol - featuring world-renowned pianist Lang Lang and a full orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Ilan will be travelling to Paris with music producer Steve McLaughlin to record Lang Lang, who will feature on the full orchestral recording with The London Metropolitan Orchestra.

NINJA TUNE 20th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

Ilan has teamed up with Amon Tobin for a monumental concert due to take place in The Royal Albert Hall, London, to celebrate Ninja Tune's 20th Anniversary.

This week Ilan records the score to Ralph Fiennes' directorial debut, a film of Shakespeare's CORIOLANUS. The session will be recorded at Mark Knopfler's award-winning studio in British Grove, London.

A tragic story of political corruption, manipulation and pride, the film stars Ralph Fiennes alongside Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox.

THE KID PREMIERE & CINEMA RELEASE (UK)

Ilan is attending the premiere of Nick Moran's new film, The Kid, on 15 September in Leicester Square.

The film, starring Rupert Friend and Natascha McElhone, releases in UK cinemas on Friday 17 September.

Ilan composed the score for this moving story, based on the bestselling autobiography by Kevin Lewis. The soundtrack plays an important role in the story about an abused and neglected boy, who finds hope and strength during his adolescence when introduced to classical music by his school teacher.

Neil Marshall's epic film Centurion is available from Monday 16 August on DVD in the UK. Starring Dominic West and Michael Fassbender.

Ilan composed the score to Centurion at the end of 2009. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and mixed at Northpole Studio in London.

RECORDING FOR THE CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA

Following the highly acclaimed In Motion concert in 2009, Ilan has yet again teamed up with The Cinematic Orchestra for a further collaboration, which saw Ilan recording two scores for them in Budapest last week.

Ilan co-composed and arranged two scores for Cinematic in the last month. He then travelled to Budapest with score producer Steve McLaughlin where they recorded the scores, and later mixed them at Northpole Studio, London.

PSYCHOSIS PREMIERE

On 13 July Ilan attended the premiere for Psychosis at Leicester Square, London. Ilan produced the score to Reg Traviss' haunting horror film in which a serial killer unleashes his blood lust at a remote environmental-camp. Years later a horror novelist relocates to rural England and is plagued to the point of madness by horrific hauntings of a massacre.

The DVD was released in the UK on Monday 19 July.

ILAN'S CURRENT PROJECT - BLITZ

Ilan will be recording the score for Blitz at the end of this week in Air Studios. He has written a stylised contemporary score for the film.

Based on the novel by Ken Bruen, the film stars Jason Statham as a London cop on the hunt for a serial killer: 'The Blitz' - bent on achieving tabloid glory by killing police.

IVOR NOVELLO AWARDS TODAY!

Ilan is nominated for this year's Ivor Novello Award: Best Original Film Score for his outstanding romantic soundtrack to The Young Victoria. The awards ceremony takes place today, Thursday 20th May in Grosvenor House, London.

Ilan's score captures the emotional turmoil of Victoria's younger years and with it's main theme evokes the passionate and timeless love she felt for Albert. The score album reached the top ten in the classical music charts and has been highly acclaimed. Ilan is very excited about this nomination and is looking forward to the awards.

This Sunday 16th May on BBC Radio 2, Elaine Page will be playing extracts from Ilan's outstanding score to The Young Victoria, which has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award.

Elaine Page has a weekly show on BBC Radio 2 every Sunday between 1-3pm with special guests, showtunes and movie music: Elaine Page on Sunday

STRIKE BACK NOW SHOWING ON SKY 1

Sky's new action thriller series, now showing on TV, was scored by Ilan Eshkeri & Scott Shields.

The series stars John Porter in a story of deception, redemption and revenge, all played out in the interlinked lives of two former soldiers - Porter and Major Hugh Collinson. Now, amidst a new hostage crisis in the Middle East, their lives are about to collide again.

Ilan used a symphony sized brass ensemble to capture the military theme of the series. He also worked with ethnic soloists to evoke the various exotic locations in which the story takes place.

Catch episodes 5&6 on Wednesday at 9 o'clock on Sky 1.
